About Science of Swimming Performance

Welcome to Science of Swimming Performance, where we redefine the standards of swimmer training and conditioning. Located within the state-of-the-art facilities of Zone Personal Fitness in Powell, Ohio, Unrivaled Sports Performance offers a specialized environment that caters specifically to the needs of swimmers at all levels—from NCAA All-Americans to budding age group competitors.

Our Philosophy

At the heart of our approach lies a proprietary training system developed by our founder, Cody Cook, during an intensive internship at the Mayo Clinic's Sport Performance Department. This system is the culmination of rigorous study and practical application in the field of exercise science and applied exercise physiology.

Our Training System

Our training regimen is designed with a holistic approach to swimmer development, focusing on key areas that are crucial for peak performance and longevity in the sport:

Proper Movement Skills: We emphasize the importance of correct form and technique in every exercise. This focus ensures that our athletes move efficiently both in and out of the water, enhancing performance and minimizing the risk of injury.

Comprehensive Muscle Conditioning: Our programs are tailored to train all three types of muscle contractions—concentric, eccentric, and isometric. This comprehensive conditioning is essential for developing strength, endurance, and speed, which are vital for competitive swimming.

Nervous System Enhancement: We utilize advanced training techniques that enhance the nervous system’s ability to produce maximal power. This not only improves the swimmer's start and turn explosiveness but also their overall speed and agility in the water.

Injury Prevention: A significant focus of our training is on reducing the risk of injury. Our exercises and recovery protocols are specifically designed to address the common stresses and strains experienced by swimmers, ensuring they can train harder and recover faster without the setback of injuries.

Training Schedule and Group Size

To provide personalized attention and tailored coaching, our athletes train in small groups of no more than four. This intimate setting allows for detailed feedback and ensures that each swimmer's individual needs are addressed. Each group meets for two training sessions per week, optimizing the balance between intense workouts and adequate recovery.

Swimmers We Have Worked With

Your Head Coach For Science of Swimming Performance:

Cody Cook

Cody is entering his 10th year of coaching. He is a graduate of Malone University where he studied Exercise Science and was a varsity swimmer for 5 years. He also attended Ashland University's Master's of Science in Applied Exercise Physiology program.

He was head swim coach for Chatham University where he also served as the strength coach for the swim and dive team. He has also worked at College of Wooster where he coached 1 NCAA 1st Team All American and was the strength and conditioning coach.

He also has club coaching experience for Buckeye Swim Club, Canton City Schools, and Hudson HEAT. He served as Head Strength Coach for both Canton City Schools and the Hudson Heat while also serving as a Lead Age Group Coach.

He has recently completed his first season with Buckeye Swim Club as the Lead 10U Coach where his swimmers broke 2 relay records and finished 2nd in the Overall 10U rankings at the Ohio JO Championships.

He also completed an internship at the Mayo Clinic in the Sport Performance Department.

All Classes Are 60 minutes

All Swimmer Who Refer a Friend Will Receive $100 Discount

Age Group (8-13) 2 Days Per Week (2 Week Free then $599)

Monday/Wednesday: 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 4:00pm, 5:00pm, 6:00pm

Tuesday/Thursday: 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 4:00pm, 5:00pm, 6:00pm


High School and College 4 Days Per Week (2 Week Free then $899)
